False ID Documents:

Stricter penalties for people who make, sell, or possess false documents (Penal Code 529)

The penalty for possessing false ID documents is now up to 3 years in prison. The penalty for manufacturing or possessing the equipment to manufacture false ID documents is now up to 5 years in prison.

Prior to this new law, people making false ID documents had to be caught in the act to be prosecuted. Now they can go to prison if they have manufacturing equipment, even if they aren’t making false ID documents when they are caught.

ActionAsk callers to file a report with their local law enforcement agency.
