Pocket Bikes:

Banned in most places (Vehicle Code 473, 9955, 21720, and 21721)

“Pocket bikes” are small motorcycles that are not designed or made for highway use. Some pocket bikes can go as fast as 50 miles per hour.

This law bans the use of pocket bikes on highways, sidewalks, bike paths, hiking trails, and public lands open to off-road vehicles. Sellers must put a sticker on the pocket bike that tells buyers these restrictions.

ActionOur Consumer Services Unit takes complaints against retailers that sell pocket bikes to consumers without telling them that they may not be used in most places.
