Pricing Accuracy: Checkout Scanners
B&P Code Section 13300
| The law used to require businesses that use automatic checkout scanners to display all price reductions, surcharges, and taxes for the customer at least once before the customer paid.
This new law says that businesses must display to the customer either the discounted price, or the original price minus the discount, for an item that is on sale. The scanner has to also display any surcharges and the total value of the transaction at least once before the customer pays.
|

Businesses need to post this sign on
the checkout scanner where consumers can see it.
